Saturday came, the doorbell rang when Gain was helping her mom preparing breakfast so they kicked Seulong to go open the door. As he came back, Gain saw that there was someone else with her brother, a very handsome man with a bright smile. It took her a little bit of times before remembering that’s her brother’s best friend that used to stop by their house now and then. It was the first time Gain saw such a handsome man that her heart couldn’t help but flutter and her cheeks blushed involuntarily. Khun noticed her blush and he smiled gently at her before turned to greet her mother and say sorry for coming so early in the morning. Being fond of Khun since the times he used to come over, Gain’s mother invited him to stay over and catch up with Seulong to which her son scoffed and mumbling that it was not HIM that Khun wanted to see and get a kick from his best friend under the table.
The day passed with fun and laughter filled their house. Khun was obviously smitten with the witty pretty little sister of Seulong while Gain also had a very good impression of the gentlemanly guest. She commented, many times, how nice Khun was toward women as oppose to her brother who only seemed to bully her all the time. Seulong noted how Khun always stayed close to Gain and be very attentive to her while Gain was being all nice and lady-like. He loves to see that lovely gentle smiles from his sister that a thought crossed his mind that maybe, just maybe, Khun is good for Gain. However, Seulong couldn’t help but feel there’s something amiss too; but he just pushed that out of his mind for now, seeing his sister acting all lady-like and nice was cute and fun.
But it’s not only Gain who had a good day, Kwon did too. After successfully asking Minkyung out for a dinner on Saturday, which he noted to be quite easy unlike what he feared before, Kwon took Minkyung to the restaurant Gain approved during one of their “dates” before and had a fun time talking and getting to know the girl more. Minkyung was impressed with his good choice of the restaurant, she also found that he seemed to be more relax and open to her now, he no longer kept asking about her but he shared his stories too. The guy she knew in office was a fun and nice but a little shy guy while the Kwon in front of her now had another side of him, a very romantic guy. When he shared with Minkyung about his photography hobby, Kwon was happy that there’s another person beside Gain interested in his choice of using film camera during this digital-age. As they talked more, Kwon shared about his photo trips that he took before. Minkyung was so enchanted with his stories that she even asked him if she could join his trips sometimes and to her surprised, Kwon offered her to join him tomorrow as he already planned to go. Minkyung was happy to say yes and Kwon was so elated with this “success” that he couldn’t wait to go and brag with his best friend. As Kwon dropped Minkyung at her house after dinner, he promised to call and let her know the time he would come to pick her up.
After saying goodbye to Minkyung, Kwon drove straight to Gain’s house, which she was sharing with Jea. Seeing her car parked in front of the garage, he excitedly rang the bell to tell her the good news. However, it was Jea opened the door for him and told him that Gain wasn’t home. Confusedly pointed at her car, Kwon asked where was she instead
“Seulong oppa came to pick her up last night to go back to their parents’. But she told me she will be home tonight. It’s already 9:30, she must be home soon, why don’t you come in and wait” Jea motioned her hand toward the living room.
“Her parents’?” Kwon asked as he stepped into the house. He remembered how Seulong said she had not been back home for the last few weeks due to having to ‘help’ him and he was apologetic about that. Thinking he should call and say hi at least to her mom, Kwon picked up the phone and dialed her parents’ home number.
“Omoni~~” Kwon greeted cheerfully.
“Kwon-ah” Gain’s mom happily greeted back. She always thought of Kwon as her own child.
“I hope I’m not calling too late”
“No dear, as the matter of fact, Khun and Gain just left for 15 minutes only”
“Khun?” Kwon was puzzled by the unfamiliar name until he remembered about the handsome man he met in a bar few days ago.
“Oh, Seulong’s friend just came back from the States. He’s driving Gain home. The kid is very nice..” Gain’s mom started telling Kwon about Khun and their fun Saturday “.. Next time, you must be here too, Kwon-ah. I miss you too”
“Me too, Omoni” Kwon answered, dismissed the uneasiness as Gain’s mom praising Khun “That’s why I’m calling. I’m sorry for not be able to visit more often”
“You should, Gain’s father also kept asking about you” she sighed “And Changmin and Jinwoon too, your parents are all abroad, I know Changmin cooks very well but come back here for a mom-cooked meal with us, sometimes”
“Thank you, Omoni” Kwon felt touched of how Gain’s mom always took care of him since he was young and later his cousins too when they moved in with him. “I’ll come next week, then?”
“Great, tell me what you want to eat and I’ll cook”
“Omoni, you’re the best” Kwon laughed and chatted with her some more before he bid her good night.
Kwon was watching TV for a while when Jea came back to the living room, surprised that Gain still wasn’t home, and it’s already 10:45. Her parents’ house was only 45 minutes away which meant she should have been home already. Kwon was worried, he called her phone several times but couldn’t get through, he panicked even more. The thought of Gain was alone with a strange guy, who cared that he was Seulong hyung’s friend and they had a nice time together, out there this late totally unnerved Kwon, just when he decided to the last resort and prepared to call Seulong to get Khun’s number, an engine noise stopped him. 5 minutes later, Gain walked in with a wide smile, before stopped short at the sight of Kwon’s glare who, she noted, was holding very tightly on the phone.
“Where have you been? Why is your phone not working? Do you know it’s really late and I was very worried when I couldn’t call you? You’re supposed to be home an hour ago already, why are you so late?” Kwon just let out all his worried in 1 go.
“Wow, Gain” Jea let out a tiny laugh “Who don’t know would think either he’s your mom or husband” It’s not the first time Jea saw Kwon nagged at Gain but it’s the first time she saw he was this panic.
“There was an accident on the highway, that’s why we got stuck” Gain calmly answered as if she wasn’t affected at all by his nag “And no, Jea, not mother or husband but a nagging mother-in-law instead” Gain turned to Jea and giggled.
“Yah! I’m not done with you!” Kwon raised his voice “At least you should call. You’re a girl, even Jea was so worried and I almost thought of calling Seulong hyung or the police already”
“My phone was out of battery” Gain almost raised her voice at him, as her good mood was ruined by his nag. But, seeing his eyes filled with worries, she knew, he was sincerely scared that something could have happened to her, so she lowered her voice “I should have borrow poppa’s phone to call Jea” then she walked to him, using her best weapon against him, her eyesmile, while pulling his sleeve “I’m sorry, Kwon-ah. For worrying you” And just like the n times in the past, Kwon just sighed and patted her hand on his sleeve “Please don’t do it again next time”
“And I was partying while you’re gone, i know” Jea joked with sarcasm
“And you too, Jea. Sorry” Gain smiled
“Whatever” Jea waved her hand to dismiss her housemate “All this worries made me hungry, I’ll go get some cereal snack. Anyone want?”
Both Gain and Kwon refused and teased Jea that she shouldn’t eat or her 2 weeks diet might be ruined. Kwon got a cushion thrown at his head as the result.
With 2 of them remaining in the living room, Gain asked Kwon why he was here, and only then Kwon remembered one very important thing, he hadn’t called Minkyung for the pick up time tomorrow. As he told Gain this, his best friend widen her eyes and smacked him hard on the head “How could you forget such thing? CALL HER NOW!!” as Kwon scrambled to get his phone and dial Minkyung’s number, hoping she wouldn’t be mad at him and cancel the date.
After Kwon hung up his phone, with a relieved smile that Minkyung was not mad at him as she thought he was busy preparing for the trip and yes, she will be waiting for him at 10am tomorrow, Gain motioned him to sit in front of her. Fixing his hair that she smacked before, Gain softly said “Kwon ah, you can’t keep being like this or Minkyung will not like you, ok? you have to set your priority right”
“What do you mean?” Kwon was confused “I’m wrong about forgetting to call her, but worrying about you wasn’t wrong. You’re my best friend”
“Yes, of course, but not all girls will be happy that her boyfriend forgets to call her because he’s busy worrying for another female friend” she pointed at herself “best friend or not”
“I don’t think Minkyung is that kind of person” Kwon patted Gain’s head “Anyone involves with me should understand that you’re my best friend and that you are among my top priority” Kwon smiled then blushed slightly “Plus, she’s not my girlfriend, yet. I just asked her out, haven’t asked her officially”
“All the more you should treat her with more care, babo” Gain lightly smacked his head again “Didn’t you say she will join your trip tomorrow? Go home and prepare then rest well. Perhaps I should thank her that I’m not dragged along this time?” she laughed teasingly “Oh, Kwonnie, don’t nag and force her to try out your weird ideas or arrangement like you normally make me slave over”
“YAH! you just don’t understand my art” Kwon pouted as he got up and prepared to go home.
After Kwon left, Gain was also about to went back to her room when she heard Jea said “I still don’t understand why you two are not together. A guy forgot about a girl that he supposed-that-he-likes to worry about you? Yeah, right!”
“Yah~ don’t say that. We are best friends, and he’s just a little bit dense, he’ll treat her better”
“Let’s see, I just feel pity for the girl, that’s all” Jea continued chewing on her snack
“He.. doesn’t like me like that, ok?” Gain frowned at Jea’s comment “The way he talked about the girl, he likes her very much”
“Whatever. How about you?”
“What about me?”
“I supposed the guy drove you home is the new suitor? How is his chance?” Jea looked at Gain with a teasing smile
“He’s nice, I’d love to see more of him” Gain smiled back. It’s nice to have a friend like Jea, the sister she never had.
“Go rest, girl. It’s late. I’ll interrogate you about him tomorrow” Jea smirked at her friend and turned back to the TV. After Gain said good night, she went back to her room without hearing Jea mumbled “I think I will pity that guy too”

“Hello, Gain-ah?” Kwon greeted over the phone “I have to cancel the meeting with you tomorrow…yeah… can’t refuse… Yeah, I’ll buy you dinner later, ok? Ok Ok, stop nagging, consider it your day off hehe…Bye~~” Kwon hanged up the phone, then breathed out heavily. This was the third time he had to cancel his meetings with Gain these two weeks. When he cancelled the first time, she laughed and thought he finally mustered his courage and asked Minkyung but unfortunately, he didn’t ask her that time, neither did he for the two cancellations after. How he wished it was the reason, he asking Minkyung, but it’s just that now his Seulong hyung knew about his “training”, the guy who seemed to dislike him since his preschool days suddenly decided to be a good hyung and claimed the responsibility to “train” him. “Gain is just a girl after all, how can she tell you all” he said. Today was the third time Seulong just called him out of the blue and told him to go out for a drink after work.
As soon as Kwon stepped into the bar, he found SeulOng enjoying his drink on the left corner, he called out and went to his hyung.
“What do you drink?” Seulong asked
“Just a beer, hyung, you know I don’t drink much”
“Gain is not here, drink! You don’t have to take care of her getting drunk after this” Seulong laughed. It’s always known among their circle that even though Kwon was the guy but the one to drink more and get drunk in their outings were always Gain. Kwon never drank too much as he was always in charge of taking care of Gain as others kept on drinking.
“It’s my habit already. I don’t have much tolerance for alcohol either” Kwon just smiled.
“Suit yourself then” Seulong shrugged “I don’t know why you’re so afraid of her anyway, anything she says, you’d follow” he sipped his drink “Anyways, I’m calling you out not to talk about Gain. How are you with that lady? Asked her out yet?”
Kwon took a gulp “Not yet hyung, actually, I plan to ask her out for this weekend” he blushed
“Good! A man has to know when to grasp his chance. If you’re stalling for too long, some guys will just come and snatch her”
“Is that so? So I can just go and grasp her..” Kwon chuckled, mischief showing in his eyes now “like, really confident?”
“Of course, that’s what you should do!” Seulong nodded enthusiastically
“Then why, hyung” Kwon smirked “you always stutter when you’re in front of Miryo noona and you guys haven’t had any dinner date now?”
“YAHHHH” Seulong shouted and blushed heavily “t…that was different!” he stammered
“What different? you always talk big about how to make a move these days to me, and yet..tsk” Kwon took another gulp of beer
“Since when did you talk back to me like this? I thought you’re nervous before asking her out?” Seulong squinted his eyes “Why are you acting like this now”
“I’m nervous, hyung. As hell!” Kwon chuckled “But Gain already told me to relax, and she already helped me enough so I think I can do it ok”
“Gain again? Why you’re always like that Kwon?” Seulong said “You have to have your own confidence, you can’t rely on my sister forever, are you gonna come to her house and ask ‘should I take my wife out to dinner for our anniversary?’ when you’re both married?”
“Hyung.. that’s too much.. I’m not gonna…”
“Excuse me, are you.. Seulong?” Kwon’s sentence got cut. Turned to his side, he saw the newcomer was a very tall and good looking guy.
“Yes I am, and you’re … Nichkhun??” Seulong’s eyes widened “When did you get back, punk? You didn’t even call me”
“Hehehe… and ruin the surprise?” the new guy smiled and clapped on Seulong’s back with familiarity. Kwon can see that his smile was very nice and gentle
“Sit down man” Seulong was glad to meet his best friend again after 5 years “Let me introduce, this is Nichkhun, my best friend in University, the punk went to the US for the last 5 years due to his family business” Nichkhun smiled and offered Kwon his hand “And this is Kwon, I don’t know if you remember him, but this kid was always with my sister like her shadow since they are kids”
“Ah, you’re that boy, well. You look much different now” Nichkhun laughed while Kwon felt shy, part of it because he felt so small sitting between the two giants. “So, is this the brothers-in-law night out?”
“What? No!!” Seulong protested immediately “He is NOT my brother-in-law. This kid and my sister.. no no! We are talking about his plan to ask a lady in his company out, actually”
“Yes, Gain and I are just best friends” Kwon smiled, though he wondered why Seulong protested him so much ‘Am I that bad?’ he thought
“Ah..then can I count myself lucky?” Nichkhun winked at Kwon and earned a hard smack on the back by Seulong
“YAHHHHH”
“Lucky?” Kwon looked at him confused
“Babo” Seulong mumbled “This punk has always been interested in Gain ever since he came over our house and met her. Kept asking about her even when he’s in the US” Then he turned to Nichkhun “Don’t think I’m gonna approve you just because you’re my best friend. My sister is still too young and innocent for guys like you”
Khun just laughed “It’s not for you to decide. It’ll be her decision, right Kwon?” Khun turned to Kwon again “Being her best friend for so long, I think I should bribe you for help”
“Hahaha…” Kwon laughed nervously, part of him thought about how Gain would kill him if she knew her love life being discussed like this, part of him still trying to evaluate the man in front of him, to see what kind of man he is “I’m not sure how I can help you, hyung”
“This kid is hopeless, Khun-ah” Seulong waved his hand “All he can do is following her orders”
“Really?” Khun patted Kwon on the back “We’ll see, even so, you must know a lots about her. Help this hyung, Kwon” Khun turned to Seulong “But either way, I have to come over and greet your parents anyways, it’s been a long time”
“Of course, you ate too many of my mum’s lunches back then already”
“Oh..” Kwon remembered something “Seulong hyung, Gain just told me she will come over to stay at your parents’ this weekend.”
“Now that’s how you should help me. I like this dongsaeng already, Seulong” Nichkhun laughed while Seulong frowned “You have such a big mouth, Kwon”
“This saturday it is then, I’ll come by your parents’” Khun grinned.
As the night got older, the three men kept chatting and Kwon decided that, this Nichkhun guy was a nice and very smart gentleman, he thought maybe this could be a good match with Gain, even though he didn’t know why there seemed to be some voice in the back of his mind mumbling “babo”

“OK. Then first thing first: Be my boyfriend!”
“WHAT!!!?” Kwon’s eyes widened
“YAH!! Not what you think, babo” Gain smacked his head “I just meant I’ll give you missions about how to treat a girl on dates and such. And since you don’t dare to take risk with Minkyung, just pretend that you have to present to me, I’ll tell you from a girl’s perspective if you pass or fail. Then you will understand what to do “
Kwon rubbed his head “You startled me. But I came to ask you for your help to do exactly those things and now suddenly I have homework like this?”
“If I tell you step by step what to do, it’d be me courting her, not you. You have to figure it out, but I’m here to give you pointers, right?” Gain explained
“So when will this training finish?”
“When you’re confident enough! You decide it!”
“Oh OK… what’s to do first then?” Kwon agreed
“Ask me out. Of course! You would have to at least invite the girl to dinner or lunch first to show your interest, right?” Gain really wanted to slapped her forehead for her clueless best friend.
“Right.. Gain-ah, would you like to go …”
“Nope. Failed” Gain cut off his words “Don’t rush, at least think about it, plan how to ask. Oh, and while doing your ‘missions’, try not to think of me as your best friend. That’ll help!”
“Aish..you’re so difficult” Kwon pouted
“Again, stop that pout! You asked for help, right?” Gain just grinned “But Kwon ah, keep an eye on her as well, or while you keep doing the ‘missions’ some guys will come and snatch her away! And if the chance comes, do it, ask her, ok?”
“Got it, coach!” Kwon saluted her, jokingly.
“Anything for my best friend, right? But I’d expect dinners, many dinners, ok?” Gain smiled at him
“No problem!!”
Just like that, the 2 best friends continued to enjoy their dinner, fill with laughter.

It took him 3 times to get a “YES” from Gain (he did wonder if Gain actually took this chance to torture him for her entertainment). But after that first step’s done, he found himself actually enjoyed her ‘training’. For their ‘dates’, she either took him to hair salon and went shopping as she wanted to give him a make over or gave him a little ‘lessons’ and ‘missions’ on how to treat a girl on dates. When Kwon first heard about the word “make over” he refused immediately and earned another smack on his head (he noticed that recently she smacked him a lot) “You have to dress up to impress” she said. However, he was relieved as her ‘make over’ was actually just a little touch up like “trim your hair, it’s so messy”,”you have good muscle, don’t hide, get the fitted clothes” or “tone down your kkap a little when you meet new people or they might get scared”. With just a little bit of touch up like that, and people around noticed there’s something changed about him, even Narsha noona stared at him once and said “You look… different. But good! Keep it up!” and Minkyung gave him some compliments during the few times they had lunch together. He also made a note to thank Gain about reminding him to tone down his jokes, Minkyung seems to like his “moderated-humor-sense”.
Today, it’ll be another training date and Gain asked him to choose a movie to go watch together and they will get him some new glasses and contact lens later. As he’s humming happily, preparing his clothes, he heard a knock on the door. Thinking it’s Changmin-hyung, he called out “Come in hyung”. However, it’s not Changmin.
“Seulong Hyung”
Seulong stepped into Kwon’s room with a scowl, took a look at him
“Where are you going?”
“Uhm.. going out” Kwon didn’t know why he asked, but he definitely didn’t like the scary look in Seulong’s eyes. It always puzzled Kwon as to why Seulong disliked him so much (“even if i puked on him as a baby, that was so long ago already” he once complained to Gain)
“With whom?”
“Gain, why? is there something wrong, hyung?” Kwon innocently replied.
“What for?” the scowl deepened
“She’s..uhm.. helping me on something” Kwon’s not sure if he should tell Seulong about their ‘training’
“It must be really important then. She even only came back to mom’s house for sunday’s mornings for these few weeks already, claiming she’s very busy ”
“Uhm..it’s..”
“You’re a guy, speak clearly, don’t mumble” Seulong snapped.
“Sheshelpingmetoaskmycrushout” finally
“HUH? what?” the scowl turned upside down and now Seulong looked confused.
“She’s helping me to ask my crush out, hyung” Kwon’s face started to blush. It’s the first time he told anyone about this aside from Gain
“You asked her to help? That gangsta?” Seulong jaw dropped “and what? you got a crush?”
“Who else, hyung? She’s my best friend!”
“ME of course!! Don’t you know your hyung?” Suddenly Seulong became really happy that Kwon’s a bit scared of his sudden mood swing
“Thanks hyung, but I need to make a move now. Gain will have my head if I’m late” Kwon tried to get out Seulong’s headlock
“Oh ok, go go. You don’t want her to chop you off right? But I’ll call you out for drinks later. Your hyung will help you” Seulong shoved him playfully out of the door. Kwon still totally had no idea what was going on.
After Kwon left, SeulOng happily went to bother Changmin who was cooking in the kitchen
“Why are you so happy?”
“Kwon went out with Gain!” happiness was obvious in Seulong’s voice
“That made you happy that much? I never knew you are so fond of the kid” Changmin chuckled. It was not a new thing that Seulong had some weird dislike toward Kwon.
“Chet.. no, seems that she’s helping him to woo his crush. That kid is not interested in my sister” Seulong grinned.
“Ah.. so THAT’S WHY! You babo, what’s wrong with them being together? They are cute you know?”
“My sister deserves a better guy”
“Will there ever be anyone you deem to be enough for your sister, you babo!” Changmin shook his head “You talk so much, but if Gain brings a guy home, will you even dare to utter a word?”

Even though Gain scoffed at his choice of movie (an academic movie), she said it would be a waste if they left so they still went in to watch. After some times, Kwon felt Gain leaned her head on his shoulder. Turning to see if she’s touched by the story, Kwon stifled a laugh, Gain fell asleep, she even snored softly. Seeing she was so comfortable on his shoulder, Kwon didn’t want wake her up so he gently adjust the position to get closer to her and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. As if feeling the warmth around her, Gain snuggled to him a little bit more.
‘My best friend is so cute’ Kwon smiled softly at her then turned his attention to the big screen, feeling warmth spreading from his heart.

Gain sleepily reached out to her phone, saw the caller ID and groaned, he disturbed her sleep again
“WHAT???” she yelled into her phone “Why it’s always you who disturb me sleep!!?”
“Who tells you to sleep at this time of day? Wake up, I’m gonna come over to take you out for dinner” Kwon grinned. He knew Gain had been busy for the last 2 weeks to work on a project, she almost pulled all-nighters for 3 days now so he often ‘disturbed’ her in time for dinner.
“NO! I WANT SLEEP! Wait.. what? you take me out for dinner? YOU? STINGY KID?” Gain was surprised at his invitation. While he normally brought food for her, it’s always Changmin’s food, not food he bought.
“YAH! Have I ever been stingy to you?” Kwon retorted. Gain must agree, while he’s known to everyone as ‘stingy’, he has never been like that to her.
“But for you to willingly invite me like that?… SPILL! What happened?” Gain knew there must be something.
“I’ll tell you over dinner. Now go wash up! I’ll be there in 30 mins!”
“Okay!”

“HUH? Come again?” Gain’s eyes widened as Kwon told her why he invited her to dinner.
“I said, help me to become a man!” Kwon repeated as if he was trying to explain to a 3 years old kid
“Woah.. Kwonnie, I never knew you were…” Gain giggled, Kwon still didn’t realize his ‘scandalous’ comment
“What do you mean.. WAIT! I DIDN’T MEAN IT LIKE THAT” finally.
“HAHAHAHA .. I don’t know, you said it yourself” Gain now laughed hysterically.
“Aish…” Kwon pouted, his habit whenever Gain cornered him
“Ohh… I’m sorry” Gain patted his shoulder “Tell me clearly what happened to make you want to be a……man” she failed to hold her laughter once again.
“I’m not gonna tell you, you just keep teasing me”

1 month ago, at Kwon’s company
“Everyone, please come over and welcome our new family member, Kang Minkyung-ssi, who will be our new Accounts Manager” Kwon’s boss called out to everyone in office.
Since their company is small, just a size of 10, the boss was always trying to create a friendly, family-like environment. So as soon as he called out, the rest of the team gathered to see who’s the new addition to their ‘family’. To their surprise, it’s not another geek looking person but a cute yet elegant young woman smiling and bowing to them
“Hello, I’m Kang Minkyung, I’m honored to be able to work with you. Please give me your guidance”
None of the guys there can react fast enough being all charmed by her sweet smile, so the only girl there, Narsha had to speak up
“Welcome, Minkyung-ssi, since all the kids here seem to lose their ability to talk, let me take you around the company” She took Minkyung away, but not before noticing the dumbfound look on Kwon’s face ‘Ah, this’s gonna be fun’

Minkyung was like a new breeze into the company since there was only 1 girl before in their company, Narsha. And with her being the noona of the pack, they considered their company is a single-gender company (and often whined about that fact to the boss, only to get whacked by Narsha “Who am I? Your hyung??”). Minkyung was a nice girl too. She has always been polite and tried her best in everything so of course the guys were even more charmed. Kwon was no exception, Narsha teased him about Minkyung before but while Kwon’s loved for his fun personality, the history of being rejected by girls scarred him. So even as he had a crush on her, Kwon never thought of making a move. Until…
2 days ago,
During lunch time, after giving Narsha her lunch pack by Changmin as usual, Kwon brought his lunch back to the computer to eat. As he passed by the pantry, he saw Minkyung was trying open a jar of pickle
“Hey, do you need help?”
Hearing someone’s voice, Minkyung looked up to see Kwon, she smiled shyly
“Kwon-ssi, if you could, please. The lid is too hard”
Kwon tried to open but couldn’t so he brought the jar under the tap, turned to HOT and let the water flowed over the jar for a few seconds before trying again with a spoon, and “pop”, the lid was off.
“Here you go”
“Thank you, Kwon-ssi” Minkyung bowed a little and smiled to him sweetly. That little sweet smile made Kwon blushed a little.
“It’s.. nothing, Minkyung-ssi” as he prepared to leave, Minkyung spoke up
“Uhm.. Kwon-ssi, would you like to eat lunch with me? It would be more fun to have company when eating”
The two had a fun lunch and Minkyung’s subtle sense of humor enchanted Kwon even more. And he was sure that he would want Minkyung to pay more attention to him and maybe, ask her out later.

“So…… let me recap your story” Gain took a sip of her drink “you want to impress this.. Minkyung girl … by being manlier?”
“Yeah, you know how girls never take me seriously” Kwon looked at his best friend “But this time, I think I want Minkyung to look at my way!”
“Wah.. what happened to my best friend during the time I’m busy” Gain pretended to feel his forehead “OK, stop that look. And the pout. You just said you want to be manly”
“Gainnie~~~~~” Kwon whined. He loved Gain dearly, he really did, but there’re times he felt like he’s her dongsaeng instead of best friend with her way of teasing.
“And that too” Gain calmly stopped Kwon like it’s her everyday job “Kwon-ah, if a girl likes you, she will like your personality too. Kkap or not”
“I know, but Gainnie, I want to make sure this time. I want to show her a better image of myself” Kwon insisted
“You stubborn kid. Just be yourself. And from the story you told me, she seems to have some interest at you too. Just ask her out!”
“I want to do it right, Gainnie. Plus I have no experience in dating. Please help me!” Kwon pleaded. He knew, being the popular girl in school with hallway-long line of suitors and having already gone out with a few guys, Gain was the only one he trusted to help him. Even more than his Changmin hyung.
Gain sighed “If you insist. But I still think the best way is just be yourself. Never mind, Are you sure you want this?”
“Yes”
“Then my condition: you have to listen to whatever I say and my training method”
“Ok”
“Anything.Everything”
“Sure thing”
“OK. Then first thing first: Be my boyfriend!”

Character Introduction
Gain: 25 years old, Interior designer in a small company owned by herself and a group of friends. Kwon’s best friend since babyhood. The strong and mischievous one, always been popular since high school. Her line of suitors is long but she has never had an official boyfriend.
Kwon: 25 years old, only child. Web coder. Gain’s best friend since babyhood. Due to being the only child, Kwon likes to make friends a lot and always has a way to make people laugh. However, since his features are slender, soft, feminine, plus his joker personality, no girls ever taken him seriously.
Seulong: 28 years old, Car designer. Gain’s older brother. Used to babysit Kwon and Gain when they were young. Dislikes Kwon very much. He said because Kwon puked on him too much before.
Changmin: 28 years old, Chef. Seulong’s best friend and Kwon’s cousin. His parents currently reside oversea so he stayed with his brother, Jinwoon and Kwon. Gentle and kind, he’s more like the big mama in the house to Kwon and Jinwoon.
Jinwoon: 20 years old, 3rd year college student. Kwon’s cousin and Changmin’s brother. A musical talent in school, witty guy except when it comes to his best friend Nicole.
Miryo: 27 years old, in Gain’s group of close friends. Part owner of the company with Gain, in charge of Finance. Calm and smart. No one wants to mess with her. Only Seulong and her close friends knows how adorable she can become when she’s with them.
Jea: 25 years old, in Gain’s group of close friends. Part owner of the company with Gain and Miryo, in charge of Account managing. Loves food, Changmin’s loyal customer and ‘taste tester’. Fan of Kwon’s jokes and antics.
Narsha: 27 years old. in Gain’s group of close friends, Changmin’s girlfriend. Web designer, works in same company as Kwon. Witty, Kwon’s favorite noona.
Prologue
18 years ago, Playground
“YAH. STOP” A petite girl ran across the sandbox and pushed the bigger boy away from an also petite boy. “Don’t you dare hit him”
“bleh bleh~~ girly boy Kwon always needs to be protected” The bigger boy taunted the little boy before he left. He knew he shouldn’t mess with that girl no matter how small she seemed. She knew how to bite
Only 2 of them left, Gain helped Kwon to stand up
“You babo, you have to fight back. Why you let him pushed you around like that?” She helped him dust off the sand
“I just came to ask if I can join the game” Kwon pouted “I don’t know why they don’t like me. But it’s ok, I already have Gainnie with me ^^” Kwon immediately smiled his adorable eyesmile to Gain, his best friend.
“Of course, I’ll never leave you, Kwonnie~~~” Gain smiled happily “Now, let’s go home. My mom is yelling at Seulong oppa because he let us run around without following us” The two kids happily held hand and skipped to home.
8 years ago, Last year of High school
“I’m sorry, Kwon-ah, I already promised Taecyeon to be his date for the prom” Yoona smiled apologetically.
“It’s ok. Have fun then” Kwon smiled to her but as she turned away, his face changed and sighed “I guess no girl wants to go to the prom with me”
“Hey ya~~” A familiar hand slapped on his back “What are you mumbling?” Gain hung her arm on his shoulder
“Yoona just rejected me” Kwon sighed again
“Who told you to be so late. Didn’t I tell you to ask her a week ago?” Gain pinched him
“Ouch..you bully… now I think I’ll skip the prom since I have no one to go with”
“Why? Go with me, I have no one to go with too” Gain stuck out her tongue
“What? the ever-popular Gain doesn’t have any guy to go with? I thought I saw a line waiting for you!” Kwon looked at her surprisedly
“Nah.. I ditch them all to accompany my best friend, Aren’t I the greatest friend ever?” Gain jumped in front of Kwon and spun around.
Kwon laughed “Oh yeah you are…” He clapped loudly and joined in her impromptu dance ” Thank you Gainnie. You’re always here for me”
“I promised you Kwon-ah, didn’t I?” Gain smiled “But I tell you this secret, all the guys asked me out, none gave me THE FEEL”
“So that’s why you agree to go with me??” Kwon pretended to gasp and sob “I know I’m just your backup plan”
“Yah~ You ungrateful brat. At least I asked you! Tsk.. have you ever seen ME asking someone out?” Gain slapped his arms
“Kekeke I know. I love you Gainnie~~” Kwon put his arm around her and the two best friends continued their way to class paying no attention the look everyone in the hallway gave them, envy from the boys and ‘is-she-serious-about-going-with-him’ look from the girls.
